This 1951 VW split window Deluxe Beetle or “bug “is a true find. One of the most charming cars I have encountered in my whole career. Our matching numbers VW rolled of the assembly line on the 7th of May 1951 and left the factory 2 days later on the 9th to be delivered to its first owner in Sweden. Unbelievable but thru, everything on this 1951 Beetle is 100% original and in full working order.
Nothing was ever changed or restored. The original “L11 pastellgrun” paint of course shows patina but has never been touched. The rare Deluxe model was the only one fitted with the side air intakes also known as “crotch coolers”. You also have to love the quirky indicators that pop up on the side of the car. This “bug” has no rust on body or undercarriage! The brown velour interior shows some signs of wear but is again untouched and lovely to spend your time in. All switches and dials are present and in full working perfectly. Also, the clock is present and working which was a very expensive option in those days just as the side mirror. The technical condition can be described as very strong. No issues at all. The 1100 CC engine starts up at first crank. The car runs strong, goes souple through the gears and the steering is solid. This wonderful time capsule is ready to go on new adventures. Our 51 VW currently has a Belgian old-timer registration which makes it easy to register in any EU country.
